Dear Club Members, Parents, Volunteers, and Committee Members,

I wanted to take this opportunity to give you all an update on the upcoming season and schedule of events to come.

We have all been through a challenging time and I am happy to say that we will all be back on the park playing soccer again very soon albeit with some small changes.

COVID-19 has been very challenging for all of us and as you know we have started training under the guidelines that have been posted on our website. I am pleased to say that all teams have been adhering to the procedures so far and we have managed very well under the new training plan.

We will continue to train with the existing plan (with some minor changes) until 29th June. From 30th June onwards we will have a new training plan and all mini-roo training U6-U11 will return to Friday nights. A new plan will be published next week.

I am sure you are aware of the staff member that tested positive at Laguna Street School. Our thoughts are with the staff, students, and families of the school. It is also a good reminder that a breakout could happen at any time so it is critical that we take restrictions and safety measures seriously. I am aware that one of the children from the school plays in one of our teams and was at training last week. However, I can confirm NSW Health has advised that he had no direct contact with the staff member therefore doesn’t need to isolate, however, his younger brother was a ‘close contact’ who last had contact with the staff member on the 4th of June. The family has been advised to isolate until midnight on the 18th of June. The player in question will then return to training the week beginning 20th June.

Dianella Street Oval

I am really pleased to be able to announce that the renovations to North Caringbah Oval, our home ground, are going ahead as planned. The ground will be closed and fenced off from 1st July 2020. While this is great news, it does deliver us some challenges as I do not expect to have access to our ground (and clubhouse) until next year.

We will be moving all our mini-roo home games to Solander (U6-U11). Cronulla RSL have kindly agreed to let us use their fields while our ground is getting renovated. We will also be using Solander fields for training from Tuesday 30th June onwards. I am in the process of arranging a temporary container to re-locate all our training equipment to Solander. I am also in the process of creating a new training plan for Solander and this plan should be available next week.

Competition games (U12 and up) have been moved to Canberra Road (Gwawley Bay’s home ground) and there is likely to be some games that will overflow to other grounds.

Uniform Sales and Canteen

As our clubhouse is being closed, we will not be able to sell any uniform, jackets, hats, balls, bags etc after 30th June. We will be selling uniforms at mini-roo training at the following times :

Friday 19/6 – 6-7pm
Saturday 20/6 – 9-11am
Friday 26/9 – 6-7pm
Saturday 27/6 – 9-11am

If you need any gear, balls, vests, bags, cones, or uniform, please ensure you get organised and come to one of these sessions as we will not be able to sell you gear from 1/7 onwards.

In addition, I am pleased to say our canteen will be open for basic refreshments on Friday nights and Saturday mornings for the next 2 weeks.

Competition dates, draw and new rules.

Round 1 and Round 2 have now been released by the SSFA.
We will be playing 13 rounds with no decision on a finals series yet.
The first round is on 4th/5th July and final games at this stage are on Saturday / Sunday 26th and 27th September.
There will be no re-grading this year and SSFA, with the agreement of all clubs, have relaxed some of the borrowing rules this year to help teams that are short players. I can make these available separately to coaches and managers by request.

There will be further Return to Play guidelines that will be issued by Football NSW and these will be distributed and available on our website as soon as they are published.
In the meantime, please like our Facebook page and keep your eyes open for any further updates.

Thanks to everyone for their patience through this challenging time and I hope you can all enjoy playing football again.
