Play in Purple Round Returns to Redbacks

This weekend, we are proudly joining with clubs across Australia in taking part in Play in Purple Round, supporting PanKind and their mission to fight pancreatic cancer.

After a few years away from this important initiative, we’re back – and we’re going big.

So far, we’ve raised over $2,300 and ordered more than 150 pairs of purple socks. Every single pair worn helps raise awareness and funds to support pancreatic cancer research through the PanKind Foundation, Australia’s only dedicated pancreatic cancer charity.

Why Purple? Why PanKind?

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, with a 5-year survival rate of just 12.2%. It’s often diagnosed too late and progresses too quickly. PanKind is working to change that – funding world-leading research, pushing for earlier detection, and supporting patients and families impacted by the disease.

The purple socks are a symbol of hope, awareness, and action. Wearing them on the football pitch is a small gesture that contributes to a much larger fight.

Redbacks Doing Their Bit

It’s been a few years since the Redbacks last took part in Play in Purple, but we’re proud to be back and getting behind a cause that’s close to many in the football and wider community.

This weekend, from our littlest MiniRoos to our senior squads, you’ll see Redbacks in purple socks across the Shire. Standing together to raise awareness and make a difference.

If your team has a bye this weekend, you can still take part! Simply wear your purple socks the following round (August 2-3) and stay involved.
