Play in Purple Round 1 of 2, Kicks Off This Weekend

This weekend marks the first of two Play in Purple rounds for Caringbah Redbacks FC, as our club joins teams across the Shire and around the country in supporting PanKind and raising awareness for pancreatic cancer research.

On July 25th and 26th, Redbacks teams taking part in Play in Purple can wear their purple socks during matches, both at home and away. Our main Play in Purple round will then take place the following weekend on August 1st and 2nd, where we will have a few extra things planned to help bring the campaign to life across the club.

A reminder for all teams participating: every player in your team must wear the purple socks. Teams can’t have some players wearing red socks and others wearing purple. Teams are either participating in Play in Purple, or they aren’t.

We’re incredibly proud to share that we have officially reached our 2026 Play in Purple fundraising goal, with over $2,400 raised for PanKind and pancreatic cancer research.

A huge thank you to every player, parent, coach, manager, volunteer and supporter who has donated, ordered socks, shared the campaign or helped spread the word.

We’ve hit our target, but the campaign isn’t over. There is still time to support the cause, make a donation and help us push even further across our two Play in Purple rounds.

You can view our fundraising page and make a donation here: https://dub.sh/crfcpurple

Every donation helps fund vital pancreatic cancer research through PanKind, and every pair of purple socks worn this weekend helps raise awareness for a cause that matters.

Play in Purple is a national pancreatic cancer awareness campaign that’s embraced by community sporting clubs nationwide. Whatever your sporting code, your team can get involved by simply swapping your club socks for Pankind Foundation purple socks on one weekend of your season.

By pulling on a pair of purple socks, you’re helping to fund vital research into pancreatic cancer whilst also raising awareness that a healthy lifestyle, exercise and social connection can all reduce the risk of cancer.

Let’s turn the Shire purple.

Fangs Up!!
